Should you be drying your pimples out?

Should you be drying your pimples out?

No. And I'll tell you exactly why that's making your skin worse!

Now we tend to have so many pimple-drying products shoved in our faces by skincare companies. Then you have all the DIY influencers showing you all of these at home recipes to make something promising to dry them out. The thing is, the entire concept of drying a pimple out is not the way to go if you want to achieve truly clear, radiant skin.

Drying out a pimple doesn't stop two things. The dark mark it's about to leave behind. And the next pimple already forming underneath. That's the actual problem.

When you use toothpaste, alcohol, benzoyl peroxide, those drying spot treatments, yes, the pimple may shrink on the surface. But you're stripping your skin barrier and driving more inflammation underneath. Now we know this inflammation is exactly what triggers your skin to overproduce melanin and flare up with redness. This means the dark mark or red scar that's still sitting there months after the pimple is gone.

The other part of the issue that spot drying treatments miss is that nothing you put on top is touching what caused the pimple in the first place. Unless we get a hold of the internal triggers and calm them, the next pimple is already on its way before this one's even flat.

The triggers for our pimples stem from hormones, internal inflammation, a damaged skin barrier, acne causing bacteria, excess oil production, and slow skin healing & cell turnover that leads to clogged and blocked pores.

That's why I built the Clear Complexion Kit to work on both ends of the cycle from the inside. It helps calm the internal load that's driving the breakouts, so fewer pimples form in the first place. Plus, it helps slow excess melanin production and calm redness so the dark marks and red scars left behind fade and the new skin cells come in more even toned.
